Indicators. They suck.

In trading commodities or currency (forex), the best thing to do is stick to what the other investors are thinking. Traders tend to use complicated indicators or some prestigiously-long-bombastic named indicators to trade. They are tons of experts out there who understand the maths behind all those indicators, follow them and still make quite a huge margin of losses. Why?

Trading commodities or forex IMO based on only 2 contexts. (1) NEWS. (2) investors' psychology. This kind of trading based on the herd. The more frequent an indicator is used, the better it will perform. However, the most common mistake investors (i would call them traders) make is trade solely on a few type of indicators, and forget about the herd of traders behind them. I watched the foreign exchange for past few months, and realized 1 big thing -- trading is insanely addictive.

The basic ideas that people tend to forget (as they learn more about indicators) are the support and resistance theory, the trend line and simple candlestick theory. Support resistance can be said as the most widely use trading concept that traders start off with (100% i bet). however, experts are dumb. especially those who charge you for trading with them.

I personally follow a few forex blogs. so called experts. all i can say that less than 50% of their prediction holds true (it is supposed to be a 50-50 thing). and if i were to trade commodities or forex, i would never trade with them. However, trying on an account, i realize that it will be hard to control your so called emotion when ur heart is beating at a rate of 250 per minute. :) false breakthrough occurs like a million times a day, and only one of them is the right one.

catching breakthrough is hard, however, i would prefer catching it after the breakthrough is confirmed although i have to forgo a few pips (or points). jumping into the market after a resistance breakthrough is rewarding, but highly risky (i failed like a gazillion times). i prefer jumping in after a 10 pips breakthrough on a strong physiological level (like the 1.600 of GBP-USD during the QE2) or a 15 or more pips. I don't use indicators (although i would peep at them) and trade based only on S&R line, trend line, and indecision candle and breakthrough. At least these will be the principle that i will hold on to on the upcoming commodities challenge.

PS: I hope I could make it to the 2nd round of the CME challenge. :) who knows i might score an internship with CME :)

2 cases on dividend (will be a superrrr long post)

CASE 1
Someone saying, "hurry up, buy the stock of Durian Sdn Bhd, the company is giving out dividend!" and the next moment u rack up hundreds of lots of company, hold it, and wait patiently for the dividend.

you tell yourself, 'im just gonna wait for my company to give out the dividend, and will sell it back INSTANTLY'. so u waited. and yes, Durian did give out dividend.
but between the time period where the company decides to pay dividend (declaration date) and the dividend is actually paid out, your share price falls.

so you got your dividend, sell back your share at a slightly lower price, and sit down wondering 'did i actually make money?'

well sadly, no. how i wish to say yes, but, truly, if everything is put aside (assuming that market is smart and adjusts at a fast pace) you just got yourself nothing. maybe a loss of small amount of brokerage fees.

well before people going around saying HOW CAN THIS BE? the company is giving out dividend, isn't it a good thing? price should rise! yea true. 1 assumption i made in this theory is by assuming that the market is efficient (i undergo a stressful time trying to convince myself that EMH hypo holds truth in it) and people are RATIONAL.

before delving further into this theory, Share Dilution must be understood. Durian company has 100 000 outstanding share at $8. if Durian decided to split it shares 2-to-1, it will have 200 000 at $4. Market Cap remains the same. is this dilution? Well, NO. NO NO NO.

dilution can be categorized as dilution (sounds awkward here) if and only if there is a change in num of outstanding shares WHICH affect current shareholders in negative way. for example, Durian decided to give the newly appointed squirrel-hunter 100 shares to motivate him to work harder. the new num of outstanding shares is now 100100. well as a shareholders, its bad news! now instead of dividing the pie (earnings, valuation…) into 100 000, you have to divide it by 100100. now this is called dilution.

back to the dividends. now u think that buying a share before the dividend is given out is good. well, u need to understand where dividend comes from. basically part of the company earning is given out as dividend. thus, dividend comes from earning. do u realize whenever a company announce a dividend payout rate, the share price drops a little? well that is because dividends is part of earning which is part of the company valuation. its in the income statement. if dividend is pay out, free cash in the company will drop and the valuation of the company will also drop. people will value the company at a lower price. make sense right?

so u see, dividend is part of the company earnings. so giving out dividend will lower the value of the company. but u get the cash. ignoring brokerage cost, you actually earn nothing and lose nothing. but you will say hei, i actually earn through this way! well, that will bring to another point that has nthg to do with company valuation and balancing. its mainly due to behavior investing-- herd instinct.

well I'm not gonna talk much about that. its just basically people do what others did, and thats what make the market inefficient. company that is giving out dividend will forgo the benefits which could be gained from reinvesting the free cash. depending on whether the company is a growing company or a mature company, dividend might be a good or bad thing. well google don't pay dividend.

CASE 2
Durian company CEO Wahlen Bahfet announces 'well we are not giving out cash dividend! we are giving out stock dividend! for every 1 shares, u get 2 for free!'

YIPEE! initially you have 10 shares. now you have 30 shares! too good to be true? no. it is not even good. but true.

take for example Durian has 100 000 shares. by giving out 1-to-2 stock dividend, Durian will have 300 000 outstanding shares. ISN'T it and indirect way of splitting the stock? knowing that 100 000 shares will be 300 000 shares, the share price will definitely falls from 9 to 3 (in an efficient market). but CEO Wahlen Bahfet isn't stupid. he will definitely couple it with some amazingly good news like "Angmor is starting to love durian! sales will increase!" or "we found a new way to produce artificial durians using rocks which taste like durians."

you will be happy. people will be happy. good news + stock dividend. outlook is good. despite the indirect way of splitting the share, stock dividend has high chances (if couple with good news) of preventing the share price from dropping (sometimes even push it up!).

remember: if Durian give you 1 for 2 stock dividends, everyone get it. e.g. if u own 5% of Durian company and it is giving out 1for2, or 1for10, or 1for1000 stock dividend, u will still own 5% of the company. nothing actually changes. just the behavior and outlook of the people have changed. for me, i see this as (1) bad things happening soon and the company is trying to keep the shareholders happy by giving stock-dividend (not cash dividend) so they don't sell. (2) company wants to stop giving out cash dividend but don't want to do it in a obvious way. so the company 'lie' by giving out stock dividends. and whenever the company stop giving out CASH-dividend, its time for you to watch out. the end of the world is arriving soon.

Mamee Monster! I love mamee, my sister loves mamee, everyone loves mamee. I remember when I was young (around 11 years old), I would get a packet of double decker prawn cracker (20cents at that time) after school ended. but sometimes i preferred mamee to prawn cracker, because it came with this little packet of seasoning powder to make it tastes better. people told me that consuming the seasoning powder will cause cancer. i don't know how gruesome is cancer back then, and i always eat it. :)

At times, i would go for pringles. the more expensive potato chips as it comes only in a tube (or whatever u wanna call it). Pringles is expensive. Mr Potatoes is cheaper. I remember my sister get mad at me when i bought a tube of of Pringles when we were in Pattaya, Thailand. The reason she got mad was mainly due to the high markup price of Pringles in Thailand, compare to Malaysia. Back then, she knew it. She knew that Pringles is highly overpriced. not taking into account the excess fats and calories. which are awful for a marathon runner. :D

Now, I wouldn't mind if i choose mamee over double decker prawn crackers or vice versa. they are the same, technically. they are all under Mamee-Double Decker (MDD). (note: pringles in under proctor and gamble)

MDD currently price at RM3.38. 151m stocks. thus a market cap of RM512m.

P/E: 10.66 (2007) 6.2 (2008) 4.1(2009)
P/B: 1.00(2007) 0.76(2008) 1.35(2009)
Dividen: 0.08(2007) 0.06(2008) 0.12(2009)
EPS: 0.11(2007) 0.16(2008) 0.51(2009) 15(2010 for 2 quarters)

based on EPS, u can see a nearly 50% decline from 2009-2010 (though the quarter results are still unknown for 20103Q and 4Q). u can see mamee is not doing well compare to 2009. but compare to 2008, there is a 100% increase in earning. I wonder what happen in 2009. people suddenly go all out for snacks? people switching from rice to snacks? anyways, a decline in EPS is not really a simple "oh they perform bad this year". earnings are still acceptable.

However, revenue is ever increasing. if you wanna compare mamee quarterly revenue, what u need to do is compare similar quarter, not the quarter before it. eg, u compare 1Q2008 to 1Q2009. not 1Q2008 to 2Q2008. The main reason is because 3Q and 4Q falls on holiday season and chinese new year. thought on chinese new year, normally people don't serve mamee (you are cheap if u do this). so the 3Q (sept-dec) will see a spike or increase in revenue. holidays! children go out. they eat. students finish exam. they have mamee. people chatting away on christmas eve with a pack of mamee. now it makes sense on why 3Q2009 has a 10% more revenue compare to previous and the following quarter.

For the release of 3Q2010 report, i expect a higher revenue. thus higher share price?

Why i choose Mamee instead of other company? This is mainly due to high demand and strong inelastic demand of snacks. IMO, snacks price rises along side with population increase. Snacks comprise less percentage of one's income. Thus, cutting down on snacks are less possible during a recession or stressful time. In fact, people tends to increase consumption of snacks assuming that eating mamee releases stress! :D another thing is snacks are popular among poor or rural area. children treats snacks like gold and reaching out to people who can afford mamee is a huge gain for MDD. mamee priced at a low price (lima kupang?), affordable and versatile in every occasion, thus resulting in an stubborn and inelastic demand. Recently, Mr Potatoes overtakes Pringles in term of sales (44.8% to 41.8%) in June 2009. This further shows that Mr Potatoes (under MDD) is establishing a stronger brand loyalty throughout time. and i expect this to further flourish in the future.

MDD do export its product to various countries. mainly AUS (18% of its total export) Sg (9%) HK (7%) etc. Further expansion to neighboring country such as Thailand, Indon and Vietnam is expected in the future. MDD is planning to introduce low cost snack in Indon (which is 50% cheaper than current popular snack in indon). Revenue is expected to show in 3Q2010 statement.

another thing i like about MDD is its R&D. an avg of 3 new products released every year. and high utilization of capitals (over 80%) to produce Mr Potatoes chips. MDD also decided to invest in 10 000 ha of land in indon for palm production. this is really a nice move from MDD and further ensure future expansion.

You might think that increase in flour price, or potatoes or palm will affect the sales of Mr potatoes. However, flour, potato and palm oil only take up 10% each of the total cost of production. and their price fluctuates lesser due to the control policy. and surprisingly packaging takes up nearly 35% of the cost per pac. (plastic is cheap. and will remain cheap in the future)

Looking at the fundamentals
CA/CL ratio: 2.6 (a fairly strong credit position)
NTA/P: 1.5 (undervalue?)
CA-CL /S: 0.69 thus, CA-CL/ P: 0.204 sen of current value for every 1. (buying 20sen with RM1, excl non current asset)
cash to CA (%): 24.5%

why i choose to look at cash-to-ca is because a 24.5% is low. this could mean 2 things: 1) cash flows fast. revenue is either reinvested or used for expansion. 2) low revenue for the year? looking at high earning in all previous years and quarter, i assume MDD is doing a great job at utilizing the cash it gains from revenue.

but looking at the its price (currently):
1y low 2.00 high 3.78
3m low 3.26 high 3.64

a year ago it is RM2. i might be too late in writing this analysis. but at current price of 3.4 and a fairly good PE and PB ration, it is still worth buying. MDD is a great company with fair price. and if u think u will continue having snacks in the future despite diabetes, obesity and malnutrition treats, then go for it.

Final word: MDD R&D and expansion program attracts me. its high and steady earning is another bonus that makes MDD a buy. however, MDD is priced at a fairly high price (3.38) and assuming a future eps of 40cents and PE of 10-11, i expect a rise from current price to at least RM4 per share.

Mamee blue monster ftw!

Price: RM0.50 Share issued: 315m

Stock Overview:
Shoe sole producer from China. Only produces shoe sole. no others. no shoe no socks no boots. MS markets its shoe soles to shoe manufacture (it means MS is not affected directly by people's demand). High demand of shoe soles, yet low supply. At this time, demand is nearly 3 times as much as supply. Which is a good thing of course!

Its an Aug2009 IPO stock. price at an IPO price of 85 cents. I don't review IPO stocks, they are technically harder to trade. But since it has opened to public for around a year, I would look into it.

And unlike the previous stock i review, MS is a business which is fairly competitive in the future. Looking at the current earning possibility for a shoe sole business and relatively elastic supply, it is not surprising if young blooming shoe sole companies start mushrooming up. Shoe soles don't require highly advance machinery or skills to produce. Thus, resulting in a fairly elastic firm.

Fundamental Overview:

EPS(cents): 11(2007) 13(2008) 17(2009) 13+(2010 with a quarter to go).
PE ratio: 4.2(2007) 3.7(2008) 2.8(2009) 2.5(2010 estimated)
Current ratio per share(CA-CL /shares): RM0.39/ share.
NTA/share: RM0.43/share
CA/CL ratio: 4

Analysis:
Looking at the CA/CL, one will know that MS is a great stock. low current liabilities indicate a very healthy company. Most of the assets of MS is in Current Asset, which is another good thing. Current Asset provides high liquidity, and looking at the items under the current assets, 72% of it is in cash and bank balances! While only 3.6% is in inventories. This is due to high demand of shoe soles. Furthermore, this low inventories further reduce storage cost. bonus :)

Even if the company do go totally bankrupt over a day, at the same time all plant and equipment been stolen or destroyed by volcano eruption, all current liabilities are paid off, so do non current liabilities, and all inventories vanquished in the hot melting lava, shareholder will get 21.38 cents back. (initial price of 50 cents).its just a mere lost of 57%. and if the company manages to rescue some of the equipment or plant, or ran off with a few shoe soles, the number will be lower.

oh forget about my imagination. sum it up: this is a share with a NTA of 0.43 and with a large portion of it is made up from cash and inventories. cool right? u pay 50cents for a 0.43 share. slightly overvalue, but wait till we look into the earnings.

EARNINGS. this is the best part: ever increasing demand and ever increasing EPS. EPS rose drastically from 11 cents 3 years ago to an estimate of 18-19 cents in 2010. PE ratio will be 2.6 at the end of the year. 2.6 P/E ratio? is there a scam going on? or a buy back? 2.6 is so low even for a fraudulent share. is this too good to be true? I never know. what i know is from the fundamental view, fraud is not possible. and even if it might be a fraud, 2.6 P/E ratio is worth the bet right?

Try to understand the meaning behind the 2.6 PE ratio. it means, you pay RM 260 for a RM100 earning a year. it means by the end of 2.6 years, a double on your initial investment and an ownership of everything in the company (well depends on how much u put in). Too good to be true? well…

then why does the share price drop from an initial 0.85 to 0.50? try googling up. you will find a good analysis on the insider effect of MS company. and also herding principle caused by some of the major stakeholders.

oh btw, 2010 and 2011 divined is expected to be around 8%. another bonus. :D

Some more reading should be done on this stock, but in conclusion:
Potential earning stock, nice current ratio, high cash in hand indicating further investment, R&D ( i doubt WS need it) or expansion of firm.

downside:
a 2.6PE will sometimes be traumatic to some people. elastic firm (if u get this stock, don't expect to hold it for 10 years).

It has been awhile since i last update my blog. :D However, I'm not back to post up stories of my life. I'm just too lazy.

This will be my first post on stock market analysis. I just wanna improve on my analytical skill so I choose to post every research I had made on my blog. It will serve as a reminder for me. I have done a couple of reading on a few small cap company in Malaysia. One of them is Alam Maritim (AMRB).

Alam Maritim is one of the largest offshore marine support vessel providers in Malaysia. It is only listed in Bursa at July 2006 (it starts operation at 1998) and provides vessel service and makes installation underwater. It obtains most of its contract form Petronas and Public service commission.

Issued shares: 531m

Price as of 18Nov: 1.20 (1M high: 1.22 6M high:1.25 low:1.04)

Market Cap. 637.2m (i consider it a small cap company)

non-current Asset- $951m

current Asset- $582m

non-current Liabilities- $572m

current Liabilities- $443m

therefore,

AMRB trade at a higher CA/CL ratio of 1.3.

However, most of AMRB assets come from their non-CA as most of it are in property, vessel and equipment. Thus, Total a TA/TL ration is 1.5. It might not be a good ratio as what I'm looking for is a company with higher CA to CL+NCL ratio.

Net asset per share of AMRB come to 0.98 or close to 1. It means its an overprice of 20 cents (price: 1.20).

However, buyer might be willing to pay 20cents more for the earning and potential growth of AMRB. earning per share (EPS) rose from 5.42 in 2005 to 17.60 in 2009. Looking at the current quarter statement of 2010, EPS might rise to 23 cent when the fiscal year end. paying 1.20 for an earning of 23 cents?! amazing rite. assuming the price stays at 1.20 for the next 2 month, PE ration will fall to 5.2 (but I'm assuming a 7)

Summary:

Continuous growth for 5 years - yes. except a decline of 2.6% in 2009.

Continuous EPS - yes. Earning from $51m in 2007 to a possible of $120m in 2010.

PER - dropping continuously from 18.6 to a possibility of near 7. amazing.

NTA/S - near $1. definitely not overprice.

NTA/P - 0.71.

DY(%) - 0.5% DY/S-1 cents. not really attracting in term of dividend.

Most of the liability are from debt. which comes to a whooping $450m of debt. However a current asset of $520m hopefully will make it a good buy.

Another thing to note: gross product have a high margin (40% avg), which means AMRB price their product at a very high price. Less competitors and an inelastic demand in this field might be cause. Thus, further earnings are pretty much secure based on high margin of product.

Final words: good buy. if price falls to $1 per share (assuming that no dilution or insider disturbance), might make it a must buy. since at $1, price-to-book will be at par. further drop under $1 per share will make it undervalue or a GNN (graham's net net) share. which is a better buy.

however, this is a small cap stock. sometimes u just cant say it for sure :P

Rating: 8/10. due to low dividend, slightly overvalue and high cash-to-debt ratio.

PS: I'm still working on writing a good analysis. note that i didn't include cash flow in my analysis as I'm not good in reading cash flow statement. :D the above article doesn't represent my position on buy or sell stock.

It always feels good to have your money in someone else’s pocket. You go to the mall, grab a snack, and someone else pays for you. It’s like having amazing friend in places. You can just hop in, and let them do the rest. and most of all, you can just put “searching for fun” out of your itinerary. just simply doing nothing is already doing something fun.

I love watching the sunrise. The first time I did that was in Singapore. Just recently.

If ever you drop by Singapore, you can skip the Universal Studio, the Orchard, Birdpark-NightSafari-ScienceCenter, Clarke Quay… but try not to not ECP.

if time is on your side, rent an overnight bike and cycle along the amazing beach along East Coast Park. And if anyone is going to Singapore, I recommend ECP.

just skip the casino. East Coast is better. catch the sunrise. its breathtaking.

my 3rd half marathon!

Ok, after a day of resting, im blooging or writting or just jotting down my experience of running that freaking 21KM! oh shit, I just cant believe it’s my third time doing this. =D

It was on 27th night. In cyber “dead city” jaya. Oh and luckily i got this friend of mine going together with me. Btw, he’s Daniel. =)

Fast forward to the freaking run. What more, I ran and ran and ran and Gatorade and ran and sponge and ran and scream and ran and shout and ran. I manage to do 2 hour non-stop, which is something I would never do during normal days in my college.

But shit. My legs cramped for the first time in my life. At the wrong moment. The wrong time. Which is 2km away from the finishing line. I was like “Shit! can i run?” I pushed for another 100m with my calf and thigh pulling back so hard. Finally I drop dead. Rested for a few minutes, and carry on walking. I felt like giving up.

But I didn’t. I limp pass the finish line. Trust me, this is no story book tales. Daniel got cramped too! But he made it 8 minutes faster than me. grats dude. =) Both of us was so pissed of during the race. No sign board showing how long we have to keep going on. False hope of water station everywhere. Damn. Btw, we are texting each other during the race. After I got cramped. I remember I reply him with a 1 word message. “hell”.

Oh I can go on about how stupid how hard how nice how fun how fulfilling how tired how satisfy and how good Pop Shuvit is, but I don’t think I should do it here. Keep it to myself. The race is hard. That’s all.

Seriously, I like to thank my Ipod, for providing me unlimited songs and letting me know how far I was in the race. And still smell good after all the sweats and saliva and gatorade and seamaster water.

And my sis, who put me here in this run. and not coming. and also remind me to blog about this. Hei Bidor? Really?

And Daniel. For running along with me for the first 30 minutes. Kenyans are good right? I told u so xD. and my parents, for the caring and loving call halfway through my run. which I really cant talk.

Oh shit, I’m doing it as if I’m a marathon winner. cut it off. But believe me. It feels so good knowing that you completed it.

How nice if I can skip marching today. Sometimes i wonder wassup with Malaysia education system. Why can’t MOE do something like teaching us how to make money? How to invest and compound?

It’s late. and I’m still here trying my best to blog something. No. Not trying. I wanna blog something.

I was wondering how music can really change our mood. How when u listen to slow music, u think of emotion arousing stuff. How when u listen to Yellow Card’s songs, u wanna scream your lungs out. I wanna do that. just that my roommate is snoring. *damn, he is sleep taking now, it’s freaking me out*

And sometimes, when you realised that u are really happy, things pop out. Out of nowhere. You shove it off. But no. It’s still there. U shake it off. It sticks there. Worst. Like the snail back in my guppy’s aquarium.

Try the Starbucks new orange flavour drink, the one made specially for CNY. try it. and complain. on how the coffee is not gao and the orange flavour not stimulating to the taste bud. Complain on how the RM6.50 key chain is so bad in term of quality. Damn. and go on, complain on how slow the UniTEN line is. How u need to wait till everyone falls asleep (around 3am) stops counter striking or dota-ing before u start downloading or browsing through Facebook picture.

There is much to complain. like what my friend did. few hours ago. honking furiously at motorist and showing the middle finger. we can complain. complain and complain. typical Singaporean. but what in the end do we gain? satisfaction? making people respect you? let them know who’s the boss? consumer right? smack my head.

Okay. I try not to complain. Super hard i can say. But at least I'm trying to be nice. like showing a thank you gesture every time someone gave me way during a traffic jam. like how i learn to listen to friend problem and curse and forget.

okay. talking about curse. i wanna curse something. the cigarette. if you are a smoker, sorry, i just hate it. i mean, what on earth do u gain from cigarette? i asked many of them. and got similar stupid answers. maybe to me, it sounds stupid.

my 2009 hostel life.

Sometimes, hostel life can get out of control. Especially when all the major examinations are over. I was left with only admission essays and some university application forms to fill in. the rest, are basically enjoyments.

Lalala~

I love mines wonderland. Addicted to it. I love the cheap and good Delifrance. and an occasionally Starbucks’s.
I love the Mac store. although i really couldn’t afford it. right now.
And most of all, the ATM machines. which supply almost unlimited sum of money. =P

my room is getting better and better. and relatively smaller and smaller. there’re darts to play with. if u need to kill someone, but cant do it, just pin his/her picture on the red bulleyes, and shoot! believe me, it alleviates ur pain and anger.
and plastic ball, if ever i need an indoor soccer match. with chairs as the goal post.
300degree induction cooker too. maggi goreng double ayam tambah hotdog nugget & telur mata? not a single problem.

and a newly bought stereo. sonic gear evo3 pro. with a 3.5mm audio jack. which means, anyone can simply plug in their iPods and make my room a havoc. music never sounds so good.

what’s next? mini pool table? portable air conditional with internal compressor (internal? i dont know how it works)? projector? home cinema?

okay. my room is like a mini disco room now. just lack of the colourful disco lighting. i never enjoy hostel so much. never in my life. 4 hostels. this is the best.
not forgetting the midnight tomyam. and the crispy roti canai. slurp it down with a cup of RM1 teh tarik. won-der-ful.

ahh, time for my second dinner. ^^

MOM, happy birthday. although it is kinda late, but this is the time where i can finally sit down in front of my laptop and blog something down.

happy. birthday. 01.11.2009. nice date. just wanna tell u that u are the best best bestest mom. my mom, she the one that never plan the wrong thing. she is always right.

she scream and shout at me at all time. but only lasted for awhile. my mom, she is not so into jewellery (maybe a few), but into gadgets and clothes. my mom know how to make a streamyx works. she loves LCD. she is not the type who wear fancy fancy dress. she wears Nike. she adores Fila. and she loves to go to Al-Ikhsan. and she loves shoes too. sport shoes.

mom, thanks for “rushing up and down, rushing here and there” for me. without u, i wouldn't have gone to so many colleges and schools. i think that is what makes me different from others.

2 McD ice creams and a plate of KL Sentral’s Char Keow Teow for dinner. Try the keow teow near the monorail. it looks kinda beaten up, but i don't mind. i love the food.

1 practice test. nearly hit a perfect score. damn

Jogged 1 round around Uniten. Daydreaming ( or night?) in front of the big blue mosque. I love the mosque. especially with it’s sparkling reflection on the pond. amazing.

a bowl of hot tomyam for super late night supper. slurp. ahhh.

Things that took me 18 years to realise

18 years is a long time. Here are 9 things that I have learned.

1) Don't overeat in any Buffet. It might sound like you have “earned” “untung-ed” or “managed-to-make-them-rugi” when you overeat, however, keep in mind that buffet is for us to enjoy. You don’t want a bloated feeling after that or worst, diarrhoea. So, the next time you go for a RM50 buffet, try also the fried mee or nasi lemak. Not just the scallops or Baskin Robin ice creams. I made a huge mistake for the past few buffets i been to. Btw, i don't see why scallops are so good after all.

2) Study hard doesn’t mean you are smart. (okay it sounds like I’m comforting myself :D ). Hei, seriously, the one who studied day and night, missed lunch and dinner, wasted his/her weekends, tried his/her best to stay awake by eating coffee powder or involved him/herself only in academic discussions rather than gossiping doesn't mean that he/she is damn bloody smart. Out of 10 smart people, 9 are enjoying themselves right now. the other one is easing himself in the toilet. =P

3) The golden rule to survive is ASK. I regretted not asking. Sometimes, I feared that people will look at me and sneer or laugh when i asked. I’m still working on it right now. When you asked, you gained. Don't mind the grammar when you ask. In Malaysia, there is no such thing as grammar. “Encik want to go XXX must how ah? must take what jalan a?” ASK!

4) Sometimes, you will need help from people who seem insignificant to you at first. For examples some of my teachers helped me more than they did after my SPM. Some of the people that I once disdained helped me. And we became friends. Some even saved my life. Insignificant huh?

5) Celebrating someone birthday is not “stupid”. I just realised that celebrating someone else birthday is like celebrating your own birthday. and even though everyday is “once in a lifetime” but birthday is really “once in a lifetime”. Argghh. I cant explain it. Just celebrate. It took me 18 years to realise that.
(BTW, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAN XIU!)

6) Choose your word.
use “sure” instead of “okay”.
use “not a problem”/”not a single problem” instead of “no problem”.
use “thanks for the XXX” instead of “thanks”.
use “sorry for XXX” instead of “sorry k?”
of course, use them with a smile.

7) Family. Friends.
Look. Family comes first. Don't compromise. Although sometimes i felt irritated, but at the end of the day, i realised what they said are mostly true. God. Luckily i followed most of the “arahan”.

8) Doing nothing is doing something. You don't have to do something every moment. That doesn't make you a more effective output machine. Looking at the ceiling is something. Daydreaming is something (in fact, researches show that it is actually vital). damn, i shouldn’t feel guilty for sleeping too much.

9) I like this. Spending is actually earning. Look. I’m. Not. Filthy. Rich.
But i believed that spending or treating someone is actually treating yourself. Need explanations? I got 3 :D

yup that’s right. Besides sitting for a small CR test during lecture (which didn't make my day) and listening to the monotonous Physics lecturer blabbing about Angular Momentum for 2 hours (wtf, he didn't finish blabbing about how a CD spins, in 2 hours!), i basically did nothing productive. Productive in terms of SAT. once again. S.A.T.

Digesting a book is a better way to spend my day. Reading, reading reading and dozing off for 3 hours. Ahh… The 1st time in the month i got to go back after lunch (class cancel, yay!), and enjoyed my afternoon nap.

For now, i got some TOEFL essays to do. If not for the sake of the teacher good impression towards me, i wouldn’t give a damn. Is not often that teacher like me. So. Grab the opportunities. =P

Damn. I had forgotten my daily run. Totally forgot about it. Feel so bad. Cabulary chocolate stacking in my mini bar. Damn it.

I think i will take a boat trip at Mines during the weekend. Shutting myself in the library won’t help much. Now that i notice. I'm just not that kind. Haha. I think i got claustrophobia now.

2 years of gossiping, bickering, scolding, muka-masam-ing, *eating*, laughing, joking, crap-ing, I-no-mood-today-ing, silence-ing-during-BM-class……… are not enough. Haha. Luckily Atika took away the tables and chairs, or not i would never have the chance to listen to all those beautiful gossips and craps. Thanks for the memories. :D

My score is increasing gradually. Not tremendously. But still not up to what i expected. CR sucks. Writing rocks. Maths..erm..duh~

..I think i need to grab a book.
..Sleeping at 3 is not fun, but eating at 3 is fun. =)
..Roti Canai with 3 difference kind of kuah = heaven.
..I ordered another 12 practice tests. Cool. Now that i had done almost a dozen of them. Maybe more. I lost count.
..The library is nice. But sometimes, silence kills.
..Raya break coming soon. Another word, distraction =P
..I hate homework. You dont get better after doing them. At least, for me who never did any of my homework back in secondary school life.

This put tremendously pressure on me. Now, it’s the time to double the workload. Work hard Chun Ynh. Work hard. Once and for all.

Kajang Satay

My friend told me about this shop another day. It’s called Restaurant Sate Kajang Haji Samuri.

Kambing Arnab Rusa?? Sadly, it’s bulan Ramadan, so… out of stock…

nasi himpit on the right. And kuah kacang on the right.

The best part of Kajang Satay is not the satay (although it’s delicious), but the KuAh. Kuah kacang uuuu… with a little bit of chilli on top. lalala

this RM 0.50 ketupat is damn filling. Beware. Although it’s cheap, try not to call too many of the ketupat. *it’s not that nice anyway, it’s still the kuah*

Here comes the Satay! 30 sticks, and another 15 sticks later on. Cheap, good, and most of all, tasty.

u cant blame him for falling sick after 15 sticks of kajang satay. Note, it’s KAJANG satay, not the usual sickeningly unacceptably small and stingy satay.

Duh… of course, after meal, sure must camwhore a bit ma…

Hei look, it’s actually empty, i mean after they “buka puasa”. So, go at 8.00 =)

Total, +-RM36 for 3. and one thing, this thing don't really taste that good after 15 sticks. Haha. I’m so full to the throat.

There’s is always a reason to be called “raja” satay.

--Overall, cheap good tasty. Seriously, it’s not that expensive as i though. 60cents per stick is kinda dirt cheap.

--The downside is the cleanliness is kinda horrible, especially after the bazaar period. Maybe that's the reason that make the satay tastes so good. 5 stars to the kuah. I repeat, the scorching hot kuah which burn ur taste bud.

Okay, my stomach is growling again. Haha. Till next time. Maybe tomorrow, there will be another food hunt.

This post was inspired by papa. He said to me this morning, “why don't you write about our trip to KL with this tiny little kancil??”

Yup, we drove all the way there, Kedah to KL, in a tiny little kancil. I couldn't help being sleepy. Slept at 3. This Hosseini’s book was addicting.

nice book indeed.

Back to our kancil trip. Every time i was awaken by the sudden bump (Bad suspension, arggh..), i found my bro furiously hitting his PSP, eye stuck to the screen. Btw, happy BIRTHDAY bro, instead of celebrating Merdeka, we could have a 2-in-1. He is now 14. Form 2. I clearly remembered my life in Form2. It was one of the most..erm..exciting i could say?

This time, no celebration in a fancy restaurant, or steamboat in Bukit Mertajam (blame me, cuz I’m going back, blah!) But, we had Baskin Robins! (It’s 31st remember??) 2 pint of ice creams, which was equivalent to 700g, were no joke. No wonder we couldn't finish the last scoop. :D

and had Bakkutteh with plates of Yu Char Quay. And of course, it was in Klang.

Hindsights

Speaking to you today marks a milestone in my life. I am fifty years old. Thirty-two or years ago, when I was in your seat, I never, ever thought I would be fifty years old.

The implications of being your speaker frightens me. For one thing, when a fifty year old geezer spoke at my baccalaureate ceremony, he was about the last person I'd believe. I have no intention of giving you the boring speech that you are dreading. This speech will be short, sweet, and not boring.

I am going to talk about hindsights today. Hindsights that I've accumulated in the thirty-two years from where you are to where I am. Don't blindly believe me. Don't take what I say as “truth.” Just listen. Perhaps my experience can help you out a tiny bit.

I will present them ala David Letterman. Yes, fifty year old people can still stay up past 11:00 pm.

#10: Live off your parents as long as possible.

I was a diligent Oriental in high school and college. I took college-level classes and earned college-level credits. I rushed through college in 3 1/2 years. I never travelled or took time off because I thought it wouldn't prepare me for work and it would delay my graduation.

Frankly, I blew it.

You are going to work the rest of your lives, so don't be in a rush to start. Stretch out your college education. Now is the time to suck life into your lungs-before you have a mortgage, kids, and car payments.

Take whole semesters off to travel overseas. Take jobs and internships that pay less money or no money. Investigate your passions on your parent's nickel. Or dime. Or quarter. Or dollar. Your goal should be to extend college to at least six years.

Delay, as long as possible, the inevitable entry into the workplace and a lifetime of servitude to bozos who know less than you do, but who make more money. Your parents and grand parents worked very hard to get you and your family to this point. Do not deprive them of the pleasure of supporting you.

#9 Pursue joy, not happiness.

This is probably the hardest lesson of all to learn. It probably seems to you that the goal in life is to be “happy.” Oh, you maybe have to sacrifice and study and work hard, but, by and large, happiness should be predictable.

Nice house. Nice car. Nice material things.

Take my word for it, happiness is temporary and fleeting. Joy, by contrast, is unpredictable. It comes from pursuing interests and passions that do not obviously result in happiness.

Pursuing joy, not happiness will translate into one thing over the next few years for you: Study what you love. This may also not be popular with parents. When I went to college, I was “marketing driven.” It's also an Oriental thing.

I looked at what fields had the greatest job opportunities and prepared myself for them. This was stupid. There are so many ways to make a living in the world, it doesn't matter that you've taken all the “right” courses. I don't think one person on the original Macintosh team had a classic “computer science” degree.

You parents have a responsibility in this area. Don't force your kids to follow in your footsteps or to live your dreams. My father was a senator in Hawaii. His dream was to be a lawyer, but he only had a high school education. He wanted me to be a lawyer.

For him, I went to law school. For me, I quit after two weeks. I view this a terrific validation of my inherent intelligence. And when I quit, neither of my parents were angry. They loved me all just the same.

#8: Challenge the known and embrace the unknown.

One of the biggest mistakes you can make in life is to accept the known and resist the unknown. You should, in fact, do exactly the opposite: challenge the known and embrace the unknown.

Let me tell you a short story about ice. In the late 1800s there was a thriving ice industry in the Northeast. Companies would cut blocks of ice from frozen lakes and ponds and sell them around the world. The largest single shipment was 200 tons that was shipped to India. 100 tons got there unmelted, but this was enough to make a profit.

These ice harvesters, however, were put out of business by companies that invented mechanical ice makers. It was no longer necessary to cut and ship ice because companies could make it in any city during any season.

These ice makers, however, were put out of business by refrigerator companies. If it was convenient to make ice at a manufacturing plant, imagine how much better it was to make ice and create cold storage in everyone's home.

You would think that the ice harvesters would see the advantages of ice making and adopt this technology. However, all they could think about was the known: better saws, better storage, better transportation.

Then you would think that the ice makers would see the advantages of refrigerators and adopt this technology. The truth is that the ice harvesters couldn't embrace the unknown and jump their curve to the next curve.

Challenge the known and embrace the unknown, or you'll be like the ice harvester and ice makers.

#7: Learn to speak a foreign language, play a musical instrument, and play non-contact sports.

Learn a foreign language. I studied Latin in high school because I thought it would help me increase my vocabulary. It did, but trust me when I tell you it's very difficult to have a conversation in Latin today other than at the Vatican. And despite all my efforts, the Pope has yet to call for my advice. Latin has proven to be very valuable, but a “live” language would be nice too.

Learn to play a musical instrument. My only connection to music today is that I was named after Guy Lombardo. Trust me: it's better than being named after Guy's brother, Carmen. Playing a musical instrument could be with me now and stay with me forever. Instead, I have to buy CDs at Tower.

I played football. I loved football. Football is macho. I was a middle linebacker--arguably, one of the most macho position in a macho game. But you should also learn to play a sport like hockey, basketball, or tennis. That is, a sport you can play when you're over the hill.

It will be as difficult when you're 50 to get twenty-two guys together in a stadium to play football as it is to have a conversation in Latin, but all the people who wore cute, white tennis outfits can still play tennis. And all the macho football players are sitting around watching television and drinking beer.

#6: Continue to learn.

Learning is a process not an event. I thought learning would be over when I got my degree. It's not true. You should never stop learning. Indeed, it gets easier to learn once you're out of school because it's easier to see the relevance of why you need to learn.

You're learning in a structured, dedicated environment right now. On your parents' nickel. But don't confuse school and learning. You can go to school and not learn a thing. You can also learn a tremendous amount without school.

#5: Learn to like yourself or change yourself until you can like yourself.

I know a forty year old woman who was a drug addict. She is a mother of three. She traced the start of her drug addiction to smoking dope in high school.

I'm not going to lecture you about not taking drugs. Hey, I smoked dope in high school. Unlike Bill Clinton, I inhaled. Also unlike Bill Clinton, I exhaled.

This woman told me that she started taking drugs because she hated herself when she was sober. She did not like drugs so much as much as she hated herself. Drugs were not the cause though she thought they were the solution.

She turned her life around only after she realized that she was in a downward spiral. Fix your problem. Fix your life. Then you won't need to take drugs. Drugs are neither the solution nor the problem.

Frankly, smoking, drugs, alcohol--and using an IBM PC--are signs of stupidity. End of discussion.

#4: Don't get married too soon.

I got married when I was thirty two. That's about the right age. Until you're about that age, you may not know who you are. You also may not know who you're marrying.

I don't know one person who got married too late. I know many people who got married too young. If you do decide to get married, just keep in mind that you need to accept the person for what he or she is right now.

#3: Play to win and win to play.

Playing to win is one of the finest things you can do. It enables you to fulfil your potential. It enables you to improve the world and, conveniently, develop high expectations for everyone else too.

And what if you lose? Just make sure you lose while trying something grand. Avinash Dixit, an economics professor at Princeton, and Barry Nalebuff, an economics and management professor at the Yale School of Organization and Management, say it this way:

“If you are going to fail, you might as well fail at a difficult task. Failure causes others to downgrade their expectations of you in the future. The seriousness of this problem depends on what you attempt.”

In its purest form, winning becomes a means, not an end, to improve yourself and your competition.

Winning is also a means to play again. The unexamined life may not be worth living, but the unlived life is not worth examining. The rewards of winning--money, power, satisfaction, and self-confidence--should not be squandered.

Thus, in addition to playing to win, you have a second, more important obligation: To compete again to the depth and breadth and height that your soul can reach. Ultimately, your greatest competition is yourself.

#2: Obey the absolutes.

Playing to win, however, does not mean playing dirty. As you grow older and older, you will find that things change from absolute to relative. When you were very young, it was absolutely wrong to lie, cheat, or steal. As you get older, and particularly when you enter the workforce, you will be tempted by the “system” to think in relative terms. “I made more money.” “I have a nicer car.” “I went on a better vacation.”

Worse, “I didn't cheat as much on my taxes as my partner.” “I just have a few drinks. I don't take cocaine.” “I don't pad my expense reports as much as others.”

This is completely wrong. Preserve and obey the absolutes as much as you can. If you never lie, cheat, or steal, you will never have to remember who you lied to, how you cheated, and what you stole.

There absolutely are absolute rights and wrongs.

#1: Enjoy your family and friends before they are gone.

This is the most important hindsight. It doesn't need much explanation. I'll just repeat it: Enjoy your family and friends before they are gone. Nothing-not money, power, or fame-can replace your family and friends or bring them back once they are gone. Our greatest joy has been our baby, and I predict that children will bring you the greatest joy in your lives--especially if they graduate from college in four years.

And now, I'm going to give you one extra hindsight because I've probably cost your parents thousands of dollars today. It's something that I hate to admit too.

By and large, the older you get, the more you're going to realize that your parents were right. More and more-until finally, you become your parents. I know you're all saying, “Yeah, right.” Mark my words.

Remember these ten things: if just one of them helps you helps just one of you, this speech will have been a success:

#10: Live off your parents as long as possible.

#8: Challenge the known and embrace the unknown.

This restaurant in Butterworth has the best seafood in town, if you want to know the exact location, ask Papa. I’m indulging in Hosseini’s novel all the way there. =P

Now for the price. 66? wow, that can be considered cheap. Mind you, they are seafood. You don't get price like this anywhere else, be it KL, Singapore($S 26.40) or Europe (Euro13.20). I still remembered the first meal i had in Dublin was at the same price, it was fish and chip if I’m not wrong.

Octopus – 10.00 ( 2 plates of unagi sushi in Sakae’s Sushi )
Fish – 24.00 (wtf, i expected 40 bucks)
Lala – 11.00 (x2 of course)

and the rest (noodles and drinks) added up to around 66.00. Cool huh?

I’m blogging in this snail bus right now. 7 hours felt like forever.

I’ve done my "Dream Book", hope it will help a lot. And just realized I got lots of things to do in my life, Lots of dream. Like visiting the Taj Mahal, spending days in LA Disneyland, bungee jumping, completing a full marathon, and of course, hitting a million before 25 =)

Sealed the time capsule. Hope it won’t rot and the ink won’t go off (lol, only for a year)

Finished The Alchemist. A simple book with lots to learn from. Got to try other books from Paulo.

P.S:
people from SP, do you know that the RM2 laksa and the fried bun in Wai Sek Kai got featured in The Sunday Star?? Sad that I haven’t try the fried bun. Zen Pei got excited over it and keep telling us that it’s tasty, shouldn’t have ignored him =P.

Bungalows

Fridays is always the best day of the week. Short classes, post-weekend feeling, delay-able homework, and window shopping. And while I’m posting this, im savouring my last few moment here in College and Hostel *sob*.. hei get used to it, it is never something new, at least to me.

Jog around seksyen7 today. Is nice to know that the Bungalows in Cinta Sayang are nothing compare to Shah Alam. Bungalows that look Roman-ish, with huge pillar sticking up from the ground, 4-stories high, huge garage, and a Mercedes SLK as a finishing touch up. The Menteri Besar’s house is like long row of chalets, with expensive vases and unique gate and lamp posts.

Enough of multi-million bungalows. Is time for school. 7.25??!! OMG, class starts at 8. I’m still soaking in my wet “I Love London” t-shirt. Ciao.

Let’s see what I have done for the whole morning and some thoughts..

Woke up at 6, a little bit late xD, and go for my usual morning jog around Shah Alam. I’m still loving the peacefulness there.

Have the best self-made breakfast during my stay here in Cendana. (Best looking sunny-side-up =))

Have the best KTM ride of my life. Sleep throughout the journey. From Shah Alam to KL.

I was shocked by the price hike of taxis. Normally a ride to KTM cost me about 6 Now, it’s 10. (It’s not a 30% price rise okay, it’s more than that.)

Get to see a Malay lady speaking and chatting happily to an Ah Ma in Chinese (how cool!! Hope that Yasmin’s legacy continues).

Fumble around the city of KL without a car searching for a Post Office. Took me half an hour I think.

Lost my sense of direction and end up in Kajang. Took me nearly 30min-45min for me to realize and get down. OMG! So blur!

Waited for the trains for nearly 2 hours (more than that I think) and spend another 1.5 hour travelling in them.

Use tons of ThankYou today.

Go for another run at 5.30am in the morning. This time, it's around Shah Alam seksyen 6 pond. I love the peacefulness, the morning breeze, the half filled pond with lots of algae in it, the reflections of the lamp post in the crystal clear pond, the million dollar bungalows... I ran and ran and ran without the feeling of giving up that I used to have with me all along, I love this. And this is addictive. I know I'll continue doing this. At least, I have promised myself.

A long day to go, I'm doing things that I love. Like indulging myself in story books, isolating myself by going to the World's Attractions section in the library. Squashing green peas and swallowing them down and best of all, spending 1 hour for myself, doing nothing.

Okay, as a 1st week Intec student, u would expect me to go on a mugging spree like any other. But the thing is, I don’t even stay in my hostel on the 1st weekend in Cendana.

Friday night,
Is my birthday!! Despite the placement test and all those orientation stuffs going on around me, I’m still in the mood for a birthday celebration! Yup, this year, I got a special celebration in Sunway. Unlike the usual Chocolate Indulgences from secret recipe (which I love sooo much!) or the steamboat dinner, I have Indian food with a little bit of basking robins and fruit cakes to wrap it up. Yum Yum. Anyway, I didn’t really make any wishes this year, I’m contented. I’m satisfied. I’m happy. Thanks to all the people whom I met throughout my teenage life. Be it from Singapore or Ibrahim, I love u guys so much. And to my PAPA and MAMA, who go so far out for me. Also not forgetting my sis and bros. I’m 18! Yay!

Birthday in a new environment is never a bad idea; accepting heart-touching gift (cards!!) from my friends is the moment that instantly brightens up your day. Lastly, Choki-Choki for a birthday gift is brilliant!

Weekend!! What u expect from a lovely weekend?? No homework, no assignment, no nothing, but play. Took a cab to Sunway again (is not Sunway that attracts me most, is the food there!). And all of a sudden, a twist in our conversation leads us to Zoo Negara. OMG! Let me see, I started talking about staying in Ipoh and visiting Zoo Taiping very often. And the next moment, one of us (is it me??) suggested a trip to Zoo Negara, and finally, we end up in Wangsa Maju LRT station and off we go to the Zoo. Last minute change of mind is what makes our life exciting!!
I slept at Chandera’s place tonight (thanks macha~), getting ready for a Sunway Lagoon trip tomorrow! Who suggested it again? I don’t think it’s me right?

*I hate the pool centre or whatever they called it. It’s so smoky...

Sunday
Spending 7 hours in Sunway Lagoon is not everyone cup of tea. The weather is fine. No storm. I can’t say much about this park, it’s magnificent considering that u go with a bunch of grown up who don’t grow up. Hey and the Pirate Ship, is one of the best ride in the lagoon.
Let me see where I shall be going next. Genting?? We are planning on it. Melaka?? Sure! Taman Negara?? Sounds impossible but can be made possible with the right people. Pulau Ketam?? Yup! 2 more weeks from now…
Woooot. Sounds like a 2 years vacation for me. Before works come rolling in, let’s Rambo!

After waiting for about 1 hour (super slow-mo workers), it is finally my turn. Here’s the conversation:

Here’s the sequence, Bank Islam want me to call UiTM, UiTM want me to call JPA, JPA want me to call UiTM, and I guess UiTM will want me to call Bank Islam back…Is it some kind of Carbon-cycle here?? And the due date to settle the fees is about 4 more days from today, 3 days to update, left 1 day to bayar yuran?! 101% efficiency. The UiTM booklet stated that those who fail to pay before the registration date are not eligible to register on that day, so who’s right, who’s wrong?

Once again, Penang!! Ask me what did I do there in that little mini island for a few days, and my answer is “nothing!!”

Go wild in Penang! Explore all the beaches in Penang, that’s the one thing u could do there beside loitering aimlessly in Gurney, or going for a movie in GSC Queensbay. Anyway, movie sucks =)

Hei did you know about this little Taman Negara in Penang called the Teluk Bahang? It’s cool! Trust me... Woke up early in the morning, filled my stomach with 2 pieces of roti canai and off I go with an empty 100-plus bottle to Teluk Bahang. Bus rides might take u years to reach Teluk Bahang, but for those who are seeking a good laugh in Penang, use the bus. These buses, called the Rapid Penang, are unlike any buses in the world. (It’s red? No!) First of all, they are super duper Rapid, we waited for 30minutes in front of USM for a bus to pass by, and when we’re in Komtar, we waited for another 30minutes for another bus. It not just the speed that makes them special, it’s the flexibility and uniqueness in the bus that make us laugh.

--E.g. sign boards are as good as bus stops. Let me clarify this, they stop at any sign boards they come across like the U-turn or no-entry sign board, that’s unique right?

--E.g. with RM1, u can travel all around Penang!! Try it, u will know what I mean.

Okay, back to Teluk Bahang, if doing nothing is your cup of tea, this place is the best spot. After hiking across mountains and rainforests, we arrived at Pantai Kerachut. Believe me, hiking is not easy, we took 1 hour 50 minutes to cover a distance of approx 7km. 7km of ups and downs, skipping over roots and hopping over dead logs, it’s fun! But try imagining without a single drop of drinking water, where dehydration hinder your journey, you would see that it’s not just all joy after all.

Pantai Kerachut is beautiful! Sandy beaches, blue sky, monotonous waves that are what it takes to make my day. Lazing at the dock for hours, observing how the locals bait for fishes, having small talks with them…… and playing with cute little turtles!! Oh ya, I almost forget the baby turtles!! They’re so cute~ when they blink, when they twist their head, every move makes me want to squeeze them to death (sound torturous? Nah~)

Counting the baby turtles, is another activity that u could consider doing. Btw, there are 105 of them if my calculation is correct.

Night falls, and that is when all the funs start. We have steamboat in Queensbay, and u knows what Pinky done?? I’m not elaborating on this. It’s just something that you don’t do in a lavish restaurant. After some camera shooting sessions (not elaborating on this too =)) ), of we go wrapping the day up with a plate of fried maggi and a burger. Cool!

A deck of worn out cards will do. It will make my day, or our day.

Miss the old times we had together, u know, hours of ChorDaiDi session, mahjong in the dark and no-entry-please V.S. canteen, badminton in the now-close-down-due-to-swine-flu hall. And most of all, spending our time talking craps in the general office. Wonder why only Malaysians do that. I don’t see any Chinese or Singaporeans or Indonesians or Vietnamese or Thais or Bangladeshis do that. maybe yes, but not that I realized...and I don’t see people other than Malaysians discuss about things that really don’t make any sense, I mean, just for the sake of talking, we talk, for examples, the poke! U might not get what it means, but anyways, it’s just some craps.

Looking back, memories might not do any good in the future, at least, according to the power of now =), but it made me realized that the happiest moment u will have in your life is during your stay in a boarding school. U know, like when u get up in the morning on a beautiful Saturday and have no plans no nothing in ur mind, u will look for your beloved friends. Spending time strolling along the beautiful and 100% litter-free Singapore beaches is one of the amazing moment in your life that u will never forget. Dipping crocs in the sea, licking happily on the $S1 ice cream, wow, even Baskin Robins wont taste that good.

I wonder how on earth in a short 4 month period we bonded so well. Even sometimes I’m not that well-bonded with some of my friends back there even though we knew each others for years. and i think boarding school serve its purpose well.

Hei, I’m laughing now at my computer screen as I typed this down. Did you guys still remember how we whacked at the parrot cage and forced the parrot to speak? HAHA.. awww, Eric is absent that day..=( I can still clerarly remember the times when we are so fond of this FairPrice thingy, and we visited it almost every week? No? trice a week? No? every day? Haha.. Eric bought every single packet of nuts that he came across, crazy.. We also bought a packet of nuggets and microwave-d it. And finished it in less than 30minute! Wow, cool..and it’s 750g I think, only 3 of us do the job (Jing Xiang don’t eat much). So sad that u girls can’t help out. And we saw a stupid CML (it means Chinese xD chang2 ming4 lang2 rite?) blowing up the whole microwave and never even wipe it up. (how selfish =.=).

And remember how Pinky scolded Jing Xiang in the badminton court? And how Kai Zhong LHisAO? And how this Mingli ‘scammer’ video made me goes nuts..I listened to it for a full 2-hr and Jing Xiang ban gao me from his room. And this simying, u still have ur “are u taking video” habit dont you? keep it up =)

i can spend whole day blogging all this down..Save it for next time, when i feel VH-sick..

And Linda and all seniors..i really wish to have another month (without study) with u guys..and the bubble tea makcik, i will visit u if im back there in Singapore. And this time, a greenish extra special extra bubbles not so sweet $S1.70 bubble tea. =P

Debating with the timbalan until the sun goes down..(Agu asked him "their(sanxiu and me) case is so confusing, they dont even apply for IPTA but been offer it..isit nonsense?? is like asking you whether u have already stop smoking, but in the first place, u dont even smoke!!..[Im LMAO]..btw, i dont think he get what Agu wanna say(= )

國行頒發獎學金‧5優異生獲“金鹿”

（吉隆坡）為了栽培更多人力資本及表揚傑出學生的努力，國家銀行週三（4月15日）頒發5份“金鹿獎學金”給5名在2008年大馬教育文憑考試中有卓越表現的學生。

國家銀行總裁丹斯里潔蒂表示，目前國際金融危機不斷惡化及深化，這不只需要彈性及敏感應對，領袖也需要有遠見地採取預防措施，以度過艱巨及挑戰的時刻。

可自行選擇深造國家

潔蒂週三出席金鹿獎學金頒發禮時說，為了達到協助國家發展人力資本的目的，國行自2005年起已頒發22份類似獎學金給卓越學生，讓他們在本身所選擇的領域繼續深造。

她披露，有異於國行提供的其他獎學金，金鹿獎學金得主可以自行選擇要到哪個國家深造，以及所要修讀的科系，而且也不會要求他們畢業後要為國行服務；唯一的條件是學成後必須回國服務，為社會貢獻。
人格、智力列遴選條件

除了學術表現，國行在遴選過程中也非常注重學生的人格、智力及領導能力等素質，以確保金鹿獎學金得主將來是個全能領袖。

這5名獎學金得主分別是來自吉蘭丹的聶奴瑪蒂哈（19個1A，1個2A）、砂拉越的何明俊（12個1A）、吉打的慕聶瓦蘭（15個1A）、霹靂的莫哈末祖力萬（10個1A）及柔佛的雅莉法（10個1A）。
何明俊：年幼喪父激發上進心

儘管是來自貧窮或單親家庭，但這並不阻何明俊及聶奴瑪蒂哈專心向學，反而更激發他們的上進心及磨練他們有堅毅不拔的意志力。

自4歲就在單親家庭長大的何明俊（18歲，畢業於詩巫聖心中學）表示，就是因為年幼喪父，這間接激勵他要加倍努力，以便長大後可成為醫生，為大眾服務及回饋社會。

陪同他出席的母親謝秀蘭聲稱，由於是單親家庭，本身會比較嚴厲管教兒子，不過兒子向來也很自立及自律。
聶奴瑪蒂哈：貧窮為學習推動力

來自吉蘭丹哥打峇魯馬哈穆罕馬迪宗教中學的聶奴瑪蒂哈則說，由於父親是名漁夫，母親則是家庭主婦，家中經濟狀況甚差，多少對他的求學過程有點影響，但這卻不是她追求知識的絆腳石。

“這反而會激勵我更積極、更努力學習，是一種推動力量。”

考獲優異成績的她有別於一般優異生，並不想修讀醫科，反而是希望能成為物理學家，為大馬的物理領域開拓一片天空。

when im shouting and screaming and asking why i don't get the scholarship, i felt a bit comforted by the fact that 3 16A1 student don't get the scholarship too..

maybe GOD knew what best for me...maybe all things doesn't always turn out to be good just because they are good...maybe there is another way out...maybe Cambridge...who know its Harvard?? and maybe im just sour-grape-ing...

hei...is pointless for me to cringe over my SPM result..another A1 to make it 15A1 or even make it 16A1 will prove to be good...but...it might not happen now...alright, i pray to God to make it 14A1 plus another GCE-O..and GOD gave me that...i pray to GOD to make me one of the top 10s in Malaysia, and GOD gave me....and i should be grateful...human tends to become greedy as they strive along their path...they wanted the best that others managed to take hold of...they wanted more...and that is what happen to me right now...but for now...at least i realized that there are actually much more smarter people in the world...much more intelligent...much more~~'unbelievable'....but still they never got the chance...

i never thought that achieving 14A1 might give me trouble...maybe I'm creating it...and that's why I'm here blogging...and to the 5 of u who got the BNM scholarship, i wish you the best...and to Munesh, its OK, i salute you...not to how u got 15A1, to how u have the courage to actually pick up a subject that make you so famous and outstanding...and to that courage, i admired...

it has been quite a while i haven't blog...and this push me to the limit..i need to speak it out...especially after Maths lecture....sometimes i wonder whether this Maclaurin got a scholarship or not...hemm...

東博：公共服務局修政策‧公平分配獎學金

（砂拉越‧魯勃安都）首相署部長丹斯里柏納東博披露，中央政府已修改公共服務局獎學金的政策，確保今年的2 000份獎學金能公平地分配給各族優異生。
他指出，公共服務局將把20%或是400份的獎學金不分種族地發給表現最優異、最傑出的學生。
“第二類別中（2000份獎學金的另外60%），35%的獎學金將保留給華裔生及印裔生，剩餘的65%則是保留給土著。”
柏納東博週一（4月6日）在峇當艾助選時，披露上述消息；他表示，另外10%將保留給沙巴及砂拉越的土著。
“如果他們無法填滿這些名額，每個州屬則將分配到5%名額。”
